Who Is James Wood – Founder, Winemaker, Raconteur

James is the founder and firestarter behind Winemakers Rock.

A Yorkshireman living in France, with over 30 years in the wine world, he’s walked the vines, wrangled the tanks, and seen every side of the industry—from the soil to the shelf.

But he never bought into the snobbery.

James is a winemaker, brand builder, and unapologetic disruptor. He believes wine should be brilliant, accessible, and full of energy, not reserved for the elite behind velvet ropes. His mission? To give Europe’s best indie winemakers the brand platform they deserve—and to build unforgettable wine brands with global potential.

James leads the charge with passion, wit, and a refusal to follow the script. He’s not here to play it safe. He’s here to make wine exciting again.
